We are proud to share the wonderful engagement photo of Nicole and Blaine due to wed is September.

They come to us after a call from Nicole (the bride) inquiring regarding staffing for a friends wedding a year ago. We chatted and she said she would keep our contact info for the future. A few months later we received a call from her and she insisted on meeting with us even though Nicole (the head coordinator) would not be able to coordinate her wedding due to the fact that her due date is 4 days after her wedding date!! Long story short, Nicole and Blaine hired Conway Creations (Nicole's assistant will be doing their wedding) and we couldn't be happier to share in their big day!!!

Tahoe was the prefect venue for Natasha and Mike's Wedding this past Friday. Natasha had a great vision and selected wonderful color statements that just popped in the trees and helped to make things warm and whimsical. Their fabulous location is really what made this wedding, from their ceremony just off Speedboat Beach and then at the indescribable breath-taking private residence. First, a beautiful sandy beach within walking distance from the home reception with a sea side beach view from all sides. Next, was the natural beauty of the beautiful wildflowers and the bountiful boulders that surrounded the rustic cabin style home that is truly a special place that is sure to create everlasting memories.

David & Leslie are to be wed at UC DAVIS on a beautiful fall day in October

About the bride

Leslie was born in Vallejo, CA and grew up enjoying soccer, ballet, camping, and family road trips. She moved to Davis, CA at 13 where she met many of her wonderful friends and David. At Davis High, Leslie ran cross country and track and after graduating, she headed to UC Santa Barbara to pursue a degree in Biopsychology and run for the Gauchos. Following UCSB, her love for the beach and sun lead her to San Diego, where she is currently in her third year as a doctoral student in bioorganic chemistry at San Diego State.

About the groom

David was born in Sacramento, CA just east of Davis. He was raised in Davis and enjoyed playing football and rugby. He went to UC San Diego where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering while playing rugby for the Tritons. After graduating from UCSD, David traveled/backpacked around the world for five months visiting New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Nepal, Spain, Morroco, and Amsterdam. He returned to San Diego and is currently working as a mechanical engineer designing cameras for electron microscopes.

How we met

We met in January of eighth grade in Leslie's English class, she had just moved to Davis a few weeks earlier. David wasn't enrolled in that class, but most of his friends were in it so he ended up there often. Even though we both liked each other, it took us six months of writing letters and a lot of coaxing from friends to actually talk to each other. We’ve been dating on and off for the past 12 years. We’re currently living in sunny San Diego and in our limited amount of free time we enjoy camping, playing tennis, backpacking, watching football, hanging out with friends, going to the beach, and playing with our little pug dog, Billy.

The care and feeding of wedding vendors

You have hired the best of best Northern California wedding professionals to work on your wedding. You are paying them very well. Then you hear you have to feed them too?? What? Yes! Feed me Seymour!

Photographers and videographers will be working with you 6-10 hours on your wedding day. When was the last time you worked at your job for 6-10 hours with no break and no food? You want your pros to have the energy to capture that great shot of your Grandma doin’ the twist on the dance floor. You want your DJ to be thinking about how to keep your party going rather than how fast he can get out of there and hit the drive-thru.

Who: You should feed any vendors that have been working more than 6 hours and/or through the dinner hour. This usually includes: Photographer, DJ, Band, Wedding Planner, Videographer and their assistants.

Double check the contract. If the vendor requires a meal, it should say so in their contract. When in doubt, ask them.

What: You should feed the professionals working for you a HOT meal, NOT a boxed meal. They have been working hard! Please do not feed the people in charge of making wedding magic happen a crappy, stale sandwich, bag of chips and a Capri Sun. They will need more fuel to recharge their creative juices.

When doing some research for this article I read on the knot.com: “…Remember that your caterers will make more food than is needed “just in case,” so there will likely be plenty for your wedding professionals to munch on…Don’t worry about it too much. Just mention it to whoever will be in charge of the food, and trust them to provide.” No, no, no! Wrong, wrong, wrong! You need to plan for your vendor’s to eat. So talk to your caterer and make sure you provide for your professionals.

Some wedding venues and caterers are better than others at taking care of the wedding professionals. Regardless, you are hosting an event and as such should be in charge of making sure everyone, including vendors, are taken care of.

When: Have your vendors fed early in the dinner hour. The earlier they are fed the faster they can get back to their jobs. Do not let the venue tell you they will feed your pros “whatever is left over” after the guests have eaten. By the time all the guests have been served, your wedding professionals should be getting back to the action.
Also check with your pros to see if they have any dietary restrictions or allergies and relay that information to the venue or caterer.

Where: Ideally, your vendors should be seated at a table of their own within ear shot of the reception. If there is not a separate area where they can take a break, set up a vendor table in the corner or towards the back of the room. They need to be able to hear what is happening so they will know if they are needed to deal with an issue or capture a moment.

In the end, it comes down to common sense and decency. Just be a good host and treat the professionals working for you as you would like to be treated.

But PLEASE remember- never, ever feed them after midnight!

Meet Michelle and Jai

To be wed on beautiful Fall day in October

How they met

Michelle and Jai met in the summer of 2004 where they took a Recreation and Leisure class together at Sacramento State University. They had to do a group project and started hanging out outside of class. They developed a friendship and then their relationship began.

The Proposal

Jai proposed to Michelle on October 20, 2009 after being with each for approximately 5 years. Jai and Michelle have been talking about marriage but Michelle didn't know exactly when Jai was planning to propose. The morning before Jai proposed, he told Michelle that he had a surprise for her. Since Michelle's birthday was coming soon, Michelle thought Jai had an early birthday surprise for her. Later that night, Jai took Michelle out to a nice dinner by the river in Sacramento. Michelle noticed right away that Jai was not acting like himself and was extremely nervous. After dinner, they went back home. When Michelle opened the door, she was surprised to find rose petals all over the floor, candles lit, and dozens of red roses all around the house with romantic music playing in the background. Michelle followed the candles which led to the living room where Jai gave her a card to read. After Michelle was done reading the card, Jai went down on his knees and proposed his love to Michelle. He asked her to marry him and Michelle of course said yes!!!

What are you doing for your Something Blue? Here are some new ideas for a creative, non-traditional and some tradition ideas for your Something Blue.

Trend or No Trend? {Roseville and Sacramento Wedding Planner}

With growing and extending families and 2nd or belated marriages becoming more and more common the question always remains what is the correct protocol? Should we have a huge table or sometimes 2 tables in the front forcing people to sit with others they don't always know to stick to tradition? Or should we have an intimate sweetheart table that goes to waste after you've eaten a bite or two and maybe used once more during the toasts.

How about this new trend - create a seat for each of you at EACH guest table. One groom even set the grooms phone to a 7 minute timer and when it went off they picked up their plates and went to the next table. They said that it was the best part of their wedding for their guests.

Thursday Tips- Wedding Coordinator VS Venue Coordinator {Roseville and Sacramento Wedding Planner}

I’ve heard it several times- “Oh the venue coordinator will handle everything, I don’t need a wedding planner/coordinator.” What most brides don’t know is that the venue coordinator is just there for the VENUE, not you. (Nothing against venue coordinators- I love them and they’ve helped me out a lot!) And so, since I’m kind of the person who says things about planning weddings that not many other bloggers will….

- A venue coordinator is looking out for the best interest of the venue. A wedding coordinator looks out for the best interest of YOU, the bride. The venue coordinator deals with everything having to do with the venue- food, setup, etc. A wedding coordinator will deal with aspects of the venue, such as setup, and will make sure everything is to your specifications.

- If your ceremony is at a location other than the venue, your wedding coordinator will be there with you. A venue coordinator will not be at that offsite ceremony. If the ceremony is at the venue, the venue coordinator will be there to help with the coordination of the ceremony.

- A wedding coordinator stays by your side throughout the day and night. They are there to tell you when things will be occurring throughout the night, such as the cake cutting, bouquet toss, toasts, etc. I personally stay until the very end of the wedding, until all of the guests are gone. A venue coordinator stays until the meal is served, and the majority of the time, leaves after. Some may stay until the cake is cut and served. He or she will not be by your side throughout the day or night. Although the venue coordinator will do their best to keep you happy, he or she likely will not be involved if the best man hates your cousin and they are sitting near each other or if your bustle breaks.

- A wedding coordinator contacts your venues before your wedding to make sure everyone is confirmed and knows what time they will be arriving. A venue coordinator may only contact vendors that have to do with setup of the reception, not others, like your photographer or hair/makeup.

- Venues are known to have a high turnover rate among the coordinator/sales positions. The person that you book your wedding with may or may not still be there when it comes time for your wedding a year, year and a half later. Your wedding coordinator is hired by YOU, hand selected by YOU, and won’t be going anywhere (unless, God forbid, something horrible happens!).

These are just a few things to inspire some thinking- food for thought. This is in no way meant to be bad towards venue coordinators. As I said before, I LOVE venue coordinators- it’s always awesome to work with them! I just want my readers to be aware of the differences between the two.

Abhi & Steph to be wed on December 30, 2010

How They Met

Abhi was working full-time as a technology consultant at when Stephanie had just recently started her summer internship. They ended up not only on the same project, but also sitting right next to each other. Because of the long hours and safety issues, Stephanie needed to be escorted to her car on a daily basis, and Abhi, who had already noticed Stephanie, quickly volunteered! Numerous group outings to restaurants and music venues helped the two to learn how similar they were - love of music, affinity for traveling the world, and ambition like none other.

The Proposal

The weekend before their recent trip to India, Abhi and Stephanie drove to Barstow to drop off the dog, Guaba, at Stephanie's parents' house. When they get to Barstow, Abhi said that he wanted to take pictures of landmarks that remind him of Stephanie. First, he said, "Let me take a picture of Del Taco." Stephanie thought, "Out of all things he wants to take a picture of a drive-thru sign... but okay." Then, Abhi says that the Harvey House is the next stop since it was one of Stephanie's Grandpa's favorite buildings. It had been a long drive to Barstow so Stephanie took the dog out to walk with them. Guaba started to run circles around Stephanie, which left her tied up in his leash. As she turned around (and around) to get out of the dog's hold, Abhi was down on his knee with the ring in hand. He says, "Will you marry me?" and of course her answer was a huge "YES!"

Happy St. Patrick's day. Here is my latest creation!! Six colorful layers of white-cake cupcakes. The finished product came out to be the rainbow cupcakes with whip cream topping and a gold-chocolate-coin. I love my husband (whom I would normally make them for) but I knew my sister's preschool kids would get a bigger kick out of my creations. They have a party and make leprechaun traps to try to catch a leprechaun for St. Patrick's day. They were ecstatic!!

I captured these over a series of an hour or so over the weekend while working from home (yes, in bed) on the computer.

About every two minutes my adorable fur-babies would switch positions, while still nestling into each other. I should point out that Parker (orange tabby) HATED Luna (grey tabby) when we first got her. It was the only time I've ever seen him hiss at anything. Now...you'd never know it!!!

Strech break-"hmm, what's that noise?" Big yawn.....

I wanted to share with you a little more about myself so I decided to have "Wedding Free Wednesdays" and today is the first edition!!!

These are my newest purchase, my gorgeous new boots...comfy cute and a steal for only 30 bucks!!!

Lately I have a new obsession for the color purple, so these will fit right in! They're so cute that they needed a special spot amongst my other shoes in my closest and thus they face out to showcase to the WORLD...well my world that is! hehe

I LOVE MY BOOTS!!!!

Bridal Show Tips & Advice {Roseville Wedding Planner, Bridal Show}

Bridal Show 101!

Bridal shows are the mecca for newly engaged couples....I've seen my share of girls going all out with “bride-to-be” sashes with a matching bag and entourage shirts for all 7 of her bridesmaid that “had” to come to help her select vendors and then there's those girls that look WAY too young to even be getting married. Non-the-less here are a few tips if your planning on attending a bridal show.

#1 There will be other “bride's” there, so it's not just about your day. Be patient when meeting with potential vendors. If you have to wait your turn to ask questions or to get the attention of a potential vendor look at it as a good thing, that probably means that vendor has something that others like too and they may be someone worth the wait.

#2 Do your research. Look up vendors that showcased last year or if you're lucky are going to be in attendance this year. It gives you a sneak peek to see if the show is worth going to. If there are only two photographers and you weren't impressed by their websites than maybe save your time and money and go to the show next week or try a larger show with more variety and selections.

#3 Create a custom e-mail address. This allows your personal or work email to stay just that personal/work. It also allows for all wedding related business to be in one central location. Don't forget to check it though, besides bridal shows that's the best place to get deals is through those follow up emails vendors send.

#4 Check the website for a coupon or pre-register. It will save you money and sometimes it's even FREE!!

#5 Make pre-printed labels of your information. It's inevitable that you will be asked the key questions about your wedding. It saves you from getting writer's cramp and from repeating yourself 100 times throughout the day. This will also help the vendors know who is serious and who is not about attaining their information if you register with them. (If you're not interested it's better to just tell them upfront that way you don't have to dodge their calls later). Make sure to have: your names, wedding date, phone number, email address, and wedding location.

#6 Bring a pen and paper. Take good notes, be specific, cause there is no way you can remember it all. (personality, albums, display, prices, etc.) or even better bring a camera and capture what you liked, as long as it's know copyrighted by the vendor.

#7 Eat well and pack a snack and water. No one said finding a good vendor was easy so it's better to be prepared with a full stomach and water to stay hydrated, after all it usually takes at least an hour to weed your way through the crowd. We won't tell that you have your emergency Snicker's in your purse, just in case.

#8 Save your self time and energy. Know which vendors you need and which you do not. It's better to stay focused on the prize that to look at all the shiny things along the way.

#9 Wear comfy shoes and layer. You will be walking and on your feet for a length of time. No need to bring out the winter coat, after all you have to carry what you take off.

#10 Bring an entourage. If it's a large show and you get overwhelmed you can have them talk to vendors while you grab a snack and some water to recuperate. You may also need help holding “the bag” of goodies you'll receive of vendor information.

I had a great time at the Night of Unique Elegance at the Old Sugar Mill.

I met lots of new vendors and shared time with some old friends.

My newest best friend, Audrey Gardemeyer of Bontanica Floral Designs http://www.botanicafloraldesigns.com/brought the cutest flower rings!!!!

She was giving them away to brides but I begged her for one. I wore it all the next day at my Open House at my home as welll cause I just couldn't get over how adorable they were. Don't you worry though, I have pictures!!!!

The flowers were kermit mums with a cute rhinestone in the middle and fun ajustable wire rings to hold it all together.

Great Idea for Traditions and Somethings {Roseville Wedding Ideas, Planner}

I recently planned a wedding where my bride wanted to showcase her "somethings". She used a template that was given to her and incorporated it with her table numbers. It listed out what each of the Bride's "somethings" were...something old, new, borrowed and blue.

Following that it described an early American custom, which is as follows: An Early American Custom was for the bride to pin a small pouch to her wedding petticoat. This pouch contained a small piece of bread, cloth, wood and a dollar bill. This ensured that there would be enough foo, clothes, shelter and money for the newlyweds. The pouch is in the groom's pocket.
